Detects video automatically as you play it
When you play a video on a page, Sborka finds the HLS (m3u8) that was loaded and shows a badge with the number of detections on the toolbar icon.
Edge / Chrome extension
Sborka is a browser extension that finds the HLS (m3u8) video playing on a page and saves it as an MP4. It is a tool for your own videos and videos you are allowed to save.
Save only videos you own or are allowed to save. You must follow the law and the terms of the site that hosts the video. DRM-protected videos are not supported. See the Terms of Use for details.
We are currently preparing a limited beta. Because the extension is not yet in the store, we plan to distribute it for manual loading.
Before you use it: Sborka is a tool for videos you own or are allowed to save. It does not support DRM-protected videos, live streams, or YouTube. Whether you may save a given video is up to you to confirm, based on each site's terms of use and copyright law.
Features
When you play a video on a page, Sborka finds the HLS (m3u8) that was loaded and shows a badge with the number of detections on the toolbar icon.
Resolution, bitrate, and length are listed for each quality, along with an estimated size such as "about 198 MB". Sizes are approximate and can be off by 10-20% from the actual file.
A thumbnail is made from the first few seconds of the lowest quality. Click it to play or stop a preview right there, so you can check which video it is before saving.
When a video's picture and sound are separate files, Sborka merges the video with the audio you choose and saves a single MP4 (no re-encoding). If there are several audio tracks, you can pick one. Merging works up to about 500 MB for video and audio combined.
Direct links to media files such as mp4, webm, mp3, m4a, and flac are also detected and saved as they are, without conversion.
You can see progress and cancel a save. "Download all" saves the highest quality of each detected video in turn (HLS videos only).
Videos protected by DRM (copy-protection technology) are out of scope. Sborka does not remove or bypass protection, and shows "Not supported" for videos it can't handle.
How it works
Open the page with the video you want to save and play it. Once it plays, the extension can see the video's information.
Click the Sborka icon on the toolbar. The detected videos appear as rows, with thumbnails and one row per quality.
Click "Save" on the quality you want. When it finishes, the button turns into a green "✓ Done".
While saving, keep the video's tab open. Closing the tab or navigating to another page will interrupt the save.
Scope
Rules
Use Sborka only for videos you own, public-domain material, and videos that the rights holder or the host has allowed you to save.
Whether you may save or reuse a video is determined by the law and by the terms of the site that hosts it. Checking and deciding is your own responsibility.
Saving a video does not change who holds the copyright and other rights; they stay with the original rights holder. Redistributing or uploading a video requires the rights holder's permission.
Whether it works depends on the site, the browser, and how the video is delivered, and can change without notice. We can't guarantee that it will work with every video.
FAQ
No. DRM-protected videos, live streams, and YouTube are not supported. Whether you may save a video is also determined by the rights holder, each site's terms of use, and copyright law. Use Sborka only with videos you own or are allowed to save.
Play the video on the page, then click "Refresh" in the popup. Right after installing or updating the extension, reload the video's page and then play it.
For videos with separate video and audio files, the item shows "Audio" and "Video + audio merged" tags. Clicking "Save" on that item produces a single, merged MP4. Merging has a limit of about 500 MB for video and audio combined.
The save is interrupted. The download happens inside that page, so keep the video's tab open until saving finishes.
Your browser fetches the video data directly from the host that serves it. It does not pass through any server run by Sborka's operator. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Saving a video does not change who holds the rights; they stay with the original rights holder. Whether personal enjoyment is allowed, or whether you may redistribute or upload a video, depends on the rights holder's conditions for that video and on the law. If in doubt, ask the rights holder or the host before using it.
